Our Story

We started asking why electrification was so hard to make work operationally. That question eventually became NexusCharge.

The Founding Story

It began with an ice cream van.

One of our founders converted an old diesel van into an electric, robotic ice cream server. It was more efficient and cheaper to run than diesel but finding somewhere to charge it in Australia was genuinely difficult. That frustration became a business idea. Beyond EV started by installing EV charging infrastructure and consulting with fleets navigating the transition.

Those early years on the ground taught us something important: hardware alone doesn't solve the problem. Better batteries, better solar, better chargers — the industry conversation was dominated by components. But nobody was talking about what ties them all together.

Fleets were already running Transport Management Systems, Fleet Management Systems, telematics platforms. What was missing was a layer of software that sat between all of it orchestrating energy across chargers, batteries, solar and the grid, and integrating intelligently with the systems fleets already use. That insight became NexusCharge.

To build it properly, we partnered with RMIT University securing a research grant and access to one of Australia's most advanced EV living labs. Today, Beyond EV is a team of 10+ engineers, data scientists and experts all working to make fleet electrification easier in the real world.
